Incredible. I'd sooner spend that kind of dough on Raven/Roberts volumes....!

Buy it now for 300 pounds? That borders on madness :lol_4: . These books at time of printing were around $45 US. All I can say is that Royal Navy Battleships must be very popular subjects indeed!

Going by the amounts Burt books recently fetched on ebay, this actually seems to be not too unreasonable - didn't that same volume get around GBP 240 lately?

If these were only reprinted! *sigh* They'd probably sell by the score.

Raven/ Roberts has been reprinted in German, I paid about £40 for a copy. Even if you don't read German (and my German is very limited) I think it is worth it for the diagrams and photographs.

Cheers,

Rob

Rob you can still get Raven & Roberts for £50 in english if you keep an eye out.

That's what I paid for mine about 4-5 years ago.

Saw the book in a local library. Nice pictures, but not well written as I recall (from a literary standpoint).

I don't think there are many copies around, so the price (though steep) is not unexpected. If it had been mass marketed by Barnes & Nobles, the cost today might be $5. Hough's Dreadnought book is very well written and well illustrated and you can obtain a copy for very little (though more than $5).
