I did a Google search about torpedoes and there was a good number of books on the history of them. I was wondering which would be the best ones to start with?

Here is the list of what I found.
Torpedo: The Complete History of the World's Most Revolutionary Naval Weapon
Iron Men and Tin Fish: The Race to Build a Better Torpedo During World War II
Ship Killer: A History of the American Torpedo

Thanks
Todd

I think there's enough various information on Google for free that you don't have to buy a book! Google's always my #1 reference library - usually good; sometimes not so much. :wave_1:

"U. S. Navy Bureau of Ordnance in World War II"
Buford Rowland and William B. Boyd
Bureau of Ordnance, U. S. Navy
U. S. Government Printing Office, 1953

This book has a chapter on torpedo development before and during World War II. It is pretty critical of the failures in testing torpedoes before the outbreak of the war that led to very low reliability in the early years of the war. It tells about the efforts to improve the torpedoes. It also describes procurement, production and supply problems.
