Just finished Tales from a Tin Can - The USS Dale by Michael Keith Olson. The book follows the war service of the Dale a Farragut Class destroyer from Pearl Harbor to the end of the war. The author's father was a sailor on the Dale and he got much of his material from interviews with his father's shipmates. The Dale recieved 12 battle stars and particpated in all the major operations in the Pacific Theater. She never lost a man and was felt to be a very lucky ship. A very interesting book for a look into what it was like being on a Tin Can in World War II. :thumbs_up_1:

Les, I found that book last month. It was a very good read about a VERY lucky ship and crew. I recommend it to everyone!
