Ciao all,
very clever observations !, .... and some other persons on other websites had same thoughts of course :

You can find on the above links many of the answers you are looking for, but briefly I can cut and paste some of them here below.
First one :
my main interest was to re-construct the battle from a military and strategical stand point ( minute by minute on the highest level of detail possible ) and correlate it with existing photos and film sequences.
It started to demonstrate to Mr. R. Winklareth that is ' theory ' published on the book ' The Bismarck Chase ' was impossible and not supported by real evidences.
But than I found that very little had been really written about this battle details, very personalized versions of the facts needed to support pre-conceived view, no links with available historical evidences, more than 2 dozens different battle maps,.. it is just incredible given the official material available according to me.
So I started a real deep analysis of all the material available and put it all togheter ( like nobody really did before and that is why any kind of invention was allowed after ).
The result is a very different battle compared to what has been written so far, .. here some that will do as a starter ...
1 ) Did anybody really correlate every existing photo and film sequence ( and I have found many new ones ) of this battle with the ship track minute by minute all the way thru, German and British ones ?
I did it !
2 ) Did anybody ever realized that Prinz Eugen used the depth charges ( wasser bomb ) to confuse Hood ?
You will see the evidences I found.
3 ) Did anybody placed the Norfolk and Suffolk tracks with the other 4 ships to see the whole scenario ?
It is in there and you will be surprised on were Norfolk really was.
4 ) Did anybody really fairly evaluated Adm Lutjens, Adm Hollad, Adm Wake-Walker and the 4 ships commander performances ? What about the Artillery Officers ?
5 ) Did anybody realized the ship guns performances salvo by salvo ? What about the ships real bearings on the battle correlated with tracks and photos ?
6 ) Did anybody really know how many hits Hood really took and from which ship ? What about the details on the hit on the other ships ?
7 ) Did anybody knew about the torpedoes story ?
Not only the ones ( 3 ) that caused the German to turn away, .. but also the missed ones that forced PG crew in trouble ?
8 ) To which ship was really Hood firing ? What about her firing performances ? Why ?
So into 25 pages article you will a detailed minute by minute report, with more than 70 precise references to Official available material ( both German and British ) supporting the re-construction.
Maybe somebody ( I hope ) very soon will do something a lot better,.. but let me say that surely nobody as ever done something like this on this battle before.
I have only dedicated my 30 years ship passion and knowledge and 2/3 years of my life to make it.
The article is in Italian, but I can provide right now the English full translation to anybody that will contact me with the proof of purchase of course.
I tryied to publish it in English too, but probably some editors do preffer to publish ''inventions '' on Naval Warfare instead of good historically researched material.
Mr. Erminio Bagnasco ( one of the best Regia Marina book authors we have in Italy ) which is also the translator of the Bismarck - Baron book in Italian, in addittion to be a retired Italian Navy Officer, immediately gave me the chance to publish it with Albertelli Editore.
I take the occasion to thank them.
and the second one :
well, certain editors ( and please allow me not to mention them in public to avoid problems ) do not even allow you to arrive to the peer review level.
Nobody ever evaluated my work, .. and I presume few were really able to understand it.
They just write you back a kind response ( after they have passed the hands from one person/department to another telling you that the argument is NOT of their interest ).
That is what you will receive back.
Pathetic, by looking at what they publish after,.. and please let me stop here,... otherwise I will be too strong.
Now I can only thank them for having allowed me to meet Mr. Bagnasco which is a real naval competent guy and loves his work of editor.
Working with him is a fantastic learning experience and lots of fun.
So far the translation is obvioulsy just done by me, but I have many English mother languaged friends that can do a real good work on it.
I know well that my English if sufficient to write and speack, .. a different level of specific competence is required when you write a book in English of course.
I have exchanged some e-mails with Bill Garzke JR and I have some of his books.
I have never read one of those articles you mention, can anybody forward me some more details so I can try to find them ( or a scan copy thru e-mail ).
Do you think anybody ever analyzed before the photos at this level :

I like to hear your comments, ... and if anybody will have a link to a serious English languaged editor interested on publishing it I have no problems, .. as my goal was only to preserve the historical truth and allow most of the people on the world to read it.
I am currently working with Bill Jurens for a Warship International issue, with a French friend for the publication on the most important French languaged naval magazine, with a Spanish friend and of course with a German one too.
The initial Italian is out there,... finally

.
So I hope to have covered all your questions and I accept any challenge and careful evaluation on my work by anybody.
The translation is available and currently under English/American mother language people careful proofread,.. just to make it better than my english/latin way to speack.
.. but the value is into the research, photos and tracks, ... and it is in there already,...
Ciao Antonio
