Let me present to you my build of Trumpeter’s 1:700 HMS Valiant, shown in November 1941. The model was under construction for the better part of two years. I tried to include all the small but numerous differences that set this vessel apart from her near-identical sister, HMS Queen Elizabeth. Photoetch upgrade parts of FlyHawk, WEM, Tetra, and to a lesser extent of other manufacturers were used extensively. Wood deck came from the Tetra set. 3D printed main and secondary turrets, some boats, HACS directors, searchlights and some deck fittings came from MicroMaster. Main and secondary gun barrels, some parts of the masts as well as all of the yards were sourced from Master Model. All splinter shields were replaced by scratchbuilt items out of aluminium strip. Many small parts were also scratchbuilt. 87 photoetched crew members from four manufacturers were added. Rigging is stretched sprue, Caenis and Lycra. I used WEM Colourcoats for the painting and AK Interactive products for the weathering. The ship will be part of a diorama featuring HMS Barham just before her loss, accompanied by HMS Valiant and HMS Griffin. With HMS Barham already completed, the destroyer remains to be built.

George well done. :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Fantastic precision work with the ship as a whole as well as with individual details.
I really like your work with the painting and representation of the patina.
... and the photos are also excellent. The friend who took the photos for you deserves credit.

Will there be a chance to see this beautiful model "live", e.g. 04/2023? :cool_1:

I'm out of superlatives to describe your work. She's simply magnificent.

Beautiful and very atmospheric model, so nice to look at all the details.

Very effective way to display the model.

1/700 scale sure could benefit from photo stitching to bring all that lovely detail to scale!

Milan, Marijn, Martin and pascalemod,
thank you so much for your words of praise!
I really do appreciate your kind reaction to my humble work.
Milan and Marijn,
I hope to attend the '23 Mosonshow with a completed diorama, but if I can't make it, Valiant will be there anyway!
pascalemod, I know photo stitching can produce photographs that are razor sharp from stem to stern.
My IT skills are pretty basic but I plan to get some help and use the above-mentioned computer programme when the completed diorama with all three ships is going to be photographed.

Excellent work once more. Almost (!) a shame the paint hides so many superb scratchbuilding techniques. Most inspiring. :thumbs_up_1:

Thank you both, gentlemen!
Ever-Jan, your website (On the Slipway) provided me with countless valuable information about the equipment of British ships.
A big thank you for that, too!

I was following the build thread, and I missed the completed photographs.

The level of detail is exquisite. The paint and subtle weathering is excellent. As I mentioned to you before, I always use your model photographs to learn how things should look.

I really hope to see the model one day. I am planning on going to the Moson show next year, now there is more motivation to go forward with the plans.

Beautiful model George! :wave_1:
