Here's the aft secondary battery.

Base painting complete





And weathered.





I lost a part of the secondary turrets mast. If it turns up I'll add it later
The Pontos instructions don't mention the handrails of the turret but there a lot of unmarked parts on the PE fret you can use.
I also added some extra ladders and stretched sprue details on the base.


And some other progress we have.











The Pontos ammunition boxes are pretty nice, though I think they are really oversized. Even the plastic one in the tamiya kit is smaller.
Still much to do like 10 triple 25s open mounts etc. (just for the deck that is) but coming along slowly.

I'm a little ahead of myself, but when you get to the rigging, please go into as much detail as possible with photos and suggestions. If you have detailed reference drawings, please let us know where to find them. I have been looking for a detailed schematic on rigging for a few years now, with no luck.

This is an amazing build and can't wait for you to complete it!

I don't have any rigging diagrams or anything I'm afraid.
The only thing I've found good was some pictures of the Kure model in the CASF thread.

I'll work with those, I'm not a pro rigger but I'll see what I can do.
My last work with the Sovremenny did have some elaborate aerial cage rigging too that I was pleased with so let's hope for the best.
I got some new elastic kinda rigging material. I've used WEM one before which I thought was terrible so I'll give this new stuff a try aswell and then fall back to
stretched sprue.

Here's the breakwater parts before going into paint booth!



I also worked a bit on the forward secondary turret base.

First all the seams and the lines for the raised plating (???) were removed.



And cleaned.



Tamiya provides a sticker for this but I really don't see the point, it will be different color etc.
I just masked the part where the plate would be and sprayed primer like I did with the hull plating.



Time will tell how well it will work out.

One's wire and the other is thread. I went with the wire for a more scaled look and can be shaped. It's also to 1:350 scale and made just for rigging model ships.

Here's some more on the bow.

I made the anchors. The chain was cut and only held by the chainstoppers in the bow just like you can see in the pictures.



I painted it light gray then just gave sponge chipping and some washes.



Attached to the deck with the padeyes.





The breakwater section was completed with the various hatches and cable reels. The cut out on the deck were too wide for the PE, I filled the cuts full of super glue and pressed the reels in.
Still some of them are "open" need to give them a bit more filler.



I also finished the railing on the port side.
The longest run part 7 had to be cut on the bottom and middle run to get it comfor the elevations on the deck. I tried it without it and it kept twisting and bending under pressure.
After I had glued them with thin CA I used heavy CA to get the seam disapper. After that once again enamel gray was painted on the deck edge. Then various filters on top of it.

About the chains...........

Were these disabled for the last mission? If they were why?

I believe because they knew she wasn't coming back so they lost weight losing them. Just my guess, if anyone has any better info please chime in.

Nice work, and the chain stoppers, something which isn't quite clear in the instructions as well . It makes you wonder though, if they shortened the chain to lose weight, why didn't they ditch the chain completely. About the not coming back: that was the official plan, but the captains weren't completely agreeing with that. They mustered as much as fuel as they could, although officially it was a one way trip.

Great work on the breakwater and railings btw. How do you apply the thick CA to fill the gaps? Must be quite scary since there's always a possibility of messing up the work already done. Would scare the hell out of me in any way
