I recently built Dragons 1/700 Essex as the Lexington for our neighbor. He served on her from 1943-1945 with the "Deck Gang" H e was pleasantly surprised and very pleased when I presented her to him.

I originally tried to do this project from Dragons Lexington kit but unfortunately wasn't able to obtain one. After downloading a copy of the instructions for the Lex and doing quite a bit of raiding of my spare parts box I decided the project was feasible. I know she's not perfect and my skills aren't nearly up to the level of many of the posters here but I'm very proud of her.

Honestly the best part of the project was listening to some of his stories as he pointed out specific parts of the ship.

File comment: This is Nelson (my neighbor) when I presented him with "The Lex".

From the look on your neighbor's face, he doesn't see any errors or notice anything about your building skills, all he sees is "HIS" ship and he looks pretty damned pleased with it.

but I'm very proud of her.

You should be proud of your build with the way she looks and because you have made one of our ageing veterans very happy.

Thank you for posting the pictures.
