Hello all,

I am fairly new to the hobby (started last year), and recently completed my first sailing ship. Having visited the Vasa museum some years ago, I was happy to find an updated model from Revell. I was even more pleased when the model turned out to be very detailed and crisp, with all parts fitting very well together.
Painting the model was a real challenge. The amount of detail is truly amazing, and recent references were hard to find (at least for me). The instructions from Revell were disappointing, to say the least, as colour-encoding was done in a dozen shades of grey. For a model released in 2011, they should have been able to find a colour printer somewhere

Super! Very pretty ship, your paint work looks great; especially all that detail on the stern. Are those the kit plastic sails? They are very convincing if so, I'm trying to figure out if I'll use the plastic ones on my Smer Cutty Sark.

Oh, and I'll second the mention of correct facing flags up top, nice touch. :thumbs_up_1:

Kyle

Yes, these are the plastic sails that came in the model, and I agree that they look nice (at least to my untrained eye).

I don't remember what made me realize which way the flags should be pointing, but I do recall the moment of enlightenment when the physics of a sailing ship dawned on me
