You have some really beautiful work! I look forward to seeing a Burke, or maybe...a WIF ship...

Hello everyone!

Thank you for the comments , they helped me to get to this point A LOT: everything good comes to an end, so must this!
The Vincennes is DONE :woo_hoo: :woo_hoo: :woo_hoo: Well, I never installed those pesky bags across the cranes for the captain's gig, but I feel like I will actually do them in the future.

Thank you SG1, I want to keep my 350 scale aircraft skills current, because my next ship is LHD-1 Wasp, and I plan to have 15-20 aircraft on that flight deck! They are so much fun! ( when you are not building 50 of the same thing....)

Navydavesof: It's crazy, JUST today I was talking to my best friend ( also a modeler) about expanding my navy. I told him that I don't think I will have more than 6 ships in my collection. I have 2 finished now, got two 700 scale carriers kinda started, and the Wasp in 350, and maybe I will built 1 more of something. My interest is only modern US Navy ( in ships) but not too modern, and I don't find a lot of the ships shapely enough. I mostly build aircraft and helos. If I didn't narrow down my genre, I would fall victim to the hobby in the way so many others do: I would buy 985734760 kits of every kind, but still only have 1 lifetime to work on them. So this "discrimination" helps with maintaining sanity

What is a WIF ship?

I feel like everyone who ever planned to build a Ticonderoga-class cruiser, is painfully aware of what is available out there for kits (its the same poor design from 4 different manufacturers), but I figured I include some photos comparing the original kit OOB, and what can be done to it after countless hours of research and scratchbuilding... It is scary :heh:
Not perfect, but this is as far as my skills take me. Jim expressed interest in seeing this ship in water , but "building water" is a skill I lack completely. And instead of learning it, I'll build more airplanes and helicopters. But he is right, "water" would be more fitting..

Thank you all for checking out this build. It was challenging to say the least, but with people checking it out and sending those positive vibes it was fun too!

Happy modeling in the New Year too!

Cheers: Laci

Finally the crew has taken their place , and the Vincennes "sails" with the Nimitz. ( they were never actually in the same carrier group)

Off to the next challenge: 1/72 V-22 and a Hungarian MI-24, then probably back to a ship. Thank you all for following! :wave_1: :wave_1:

Cheers: Laci

Thank you gentlemen, I really appreciate the feedback!
I certainly gave it my best to bring attention to a subject ( Ticonderoga class) that generally gets a lot less invested in it, than it deserves .
But for future generations I hope that a respectable manufacturer will present a MUCH more accurate kit of the class, because this endeavour was very tiring at times.
In the meantime: best of luck to all the poor souls who love these ships as much as I do !

Happy modelling : Laci
