 Post subject: Trumpeter 1/700 Warspite

Cool. Many years ago I did an Airfix Warspite and I love the wake from the plane.

Here's how I did the plane's wake: initially I brush-painted an intermittent white line behind the plane and did some dry-brushing. I then stippled some clear acrylic modeling past to form some rippling. Looked real crappy! You can still see the end of the original line near the edge of the dio. I then used my airbrush with really well diluted white paint, and at a very low air pressure, doodled a wake - spotty along the edges and heavier down the middle. When dry, I put several coats of clear acrylic varnish - this does the trick! Even though several coats make up only a fraction of a millimeter, it gives the impression of depth. Otherwise it would only look like paint on the surface. Here's another example of a wake done the same way:
