So... first? I chose a name. I couldn't find a German military commander (outside of those used in the Great War and World War II) that I could reasonably assign to this vessel, so I went with a friend's excellent suggestion: The Battle of Teutoburg Forest.

Scratch that. Back to the “I don’t want it to sound terrible.”

The kit. This is what I started with:

I raided the etch seen and also used Starling Models' new coal scuttle set, which was incredible. This kit was... challenging. I had to:

- Fill and replace all portholes
- Add all bulkhead detail
- Scratch the bridge from the deck up
- Scratch masts
- Add all deck details
- Replace all AAA guns

Beyond that, rigging is Infini line. The wireless antennae was formed from GMM's ultra fine IJN railing with some of the stands cut to better resemble photographs. The sea base was made... poorly. I'm changing methods. I'm still planning on adding figures, but I have a show tomorrow.

Pictures of the completed kit:

Excellent work! The effort you put into it shows - and was worth it. Well done!

:good_job: The name of the German "commander" in Teutoburg was Arminius. Please rename your ship

Really great model.

And what about Lützow II or Hipper? As the ship was important during the Jutland battle it is a possible name.

Greetings Christian

I'm honestly leaning Lützow II. It makes historical sense and celebrates a heroic vessel.

Thanks all. I'm not sure I'll be doing too many WIP threads, but I swear I'll build faster.

How about SMS Carl von Clausewitz.

Sure, he had little to nothing to say about naval warfare, but on war overall...

Great build. Well, the provisional names were meant to honor earlier warships, so perhaps there is one worthy of mention.

You really made something nice out of this kit. Which should still be named SMS Stosch as I mentioned in the build thread -:)

I did a little research on Albrecht von Stosch last night. Given that this vessel would have represented a new generation in capital ship design, essentially the first German uncompromising "fast battleship," it's appropriate.

Thanks! The build was frustrating at times, given how far I pushed my neophyte scratch building skills, but it was worth it.

Dan: Appreciate the PE and comments. I wouldn't have gotten to where I did without the parts.

I'm hoping to get some good photographs with a decent background. It would be fun to see the ship in a more in-scale scene.
