Hey gang, some 15 years go a number of us MWships geeks went on a Soviet cruiser craze.
My own part of that was building a project1134 BPK, Kronstadt. It was a Kombrig kit which at the time meant basic but accurate hull and superstructure shapes and that was it. Most of the build was about adding PE from the brand new GMM soviet warships set and putting skywave parts on the hull. I did open the hangar and built a new helicopter deck. Once finished the kit was taken on a few outings, some of you may have seen her at Flanders (Hoboken) or ESM (Nieuwegein) in 2004 or 2005. Unlike most of my collection I thought she was good enough to be taken with me when I moved to my current house. I did not have a look at Kronstadt for about 10 years until a few weeks ago as i wanted to see how a 15 year old holds up with age. The kit itself looks very good, like it was built yesterday. There is some slight yellowing to the flag and the large white numbers on the hull. Unfortunately the water base (acrylic gel ) had started to 'work'. The sea is a fair bit rougher than it was 15 years ago and I decided to repaint it. Otherwise nothing has been changed for the pictures.
