One thing which annoys me though is something which happened to the whitecaps here and there. The whitecaps were done using different colors of oil paint. When I applied extra layers of Humbrol gloss (each with sufficient drying time - the oils as well) I stayed away from the whitecaps because I wanted them to remain matte. Somehow I think the clear coat has reacted with the oil paint because I noticed it crackled in some areas. Quite unhappy with it, but it is what is. Just curious how I could have prevented that.

Thanks for watching ^^

I think it is is beautiful.
For extra enjoyment I squinted a little bit and the surface of the water looked like rain was falling on it.

Very evocative, gives you a definite mood.

Masterful job. :nod_1:

thanks a lot guys.
I noticed that rain effect as well when I was processing the photos. I think it's something that went wrong when I brushed on the final gloss coat, not sure what exactly, but in the end it's a happy accident

Ongewoon Wouter!!! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Just beautiful! The wake and the water running of the hull are fantastic, and the whole piece has a lot of atmosphere. You are a good student of Werner! ;)

Looking forward to your next project!

Aprpos cracking: mixing different paint systems can be dangerous due to different behavious during drying or curing. Particularly those systems that loose a lot of volume in the process are prone to cracking, if the surfaces to which they have been applied are more rigid. Thinner layers are a way around this.

Otherways, a very evocative rendering of the sea indeed.
