A 350th kit of a County class cruiser has always been on the top of my most wanted list. Now Trumpeter have come to the rescue with a fine kit of the Cornwall. As I didn`t like the overall grey colour scheme in the kit ,I decided to build it as the Berwick in her 1941 scheme.Several alterations are needed to it build as the Berwick,The forward 4" mounts are further aft and the Hangar doors are different. The masts need to be of the Tripod type ,and many of the boats and carley floats are in different locations. All in all this kit was a joy to build.

Phil:

Fantastic work! Thanks for sharing!!!

Any photos of her under construction so we can see the modifications you made?

Would be greatly appreciated by some.

And were you working from NMM plans or photos?

Please advise.

Thanks!

Mike E.

I'm a fan of everything you do. This one is terrific, as usual. Love the color scheme and how you executed it.

One word of warning about this kit,Part c11 ,the twin 4" gun barrels are attached to the sprue by six very thick attachment points ,which are the very devil to remove ,without breaking the thin barrels.so beware!

Thanks so much for this post Phil. I’ve just bought the Cornwall kit and was thinking about converting it to Berwick. Your build has made the decision for me and provided some helpful reference photos as well!
Keep up the good work

Yes Jim I think it may be possible to back date this kit to her earlier appearance, but it would be a lot of work .Better not look too much it gets my brain box working overtime!!

Thanks Phil

Nice one Phil, still creating beautiful ships. I'm considering a Berwick when I get my kit.

Cheers,

That`s right David ,the bow and stern areas were painted in that colour ,but I`m convinced that "A" & "B" turrets were also painted in Mountbatten pink. There is a good aerial view of Berwick in the M-o-W book on the counties .believe it is page 21?
