I present to you my new project. It focuses on a dock floating with inside the battleship BB-59.
The idea came to me looking at pictures on Navesource. I just cracked on the following photos:
I searched on the net products 1/350th on the subject and there nada. There is a kit at home FSTAR 1/700 that I bought for a dimensional idea of the beast.
The solution was to do everything in photo cutting. I had never made plans to make the PE. So, I decided to learn how to use vector drawing and with the guidance of Jean (Mac) software, I began to draw boards to the floating Dock.
I much used Powerpoint and its drawing functions in my professional life. The management of forms and functions associated, differentiated and top, below. These are a basis to understand vector drawing software. The rest is practice and a lot of logic. I did intensive type training (6 hours per day for 2 months) before leaving my first skateboards. My stated Jean errors and good practices on the subject.
Today, I got all A4 of Photo cutting boards. Namely: 1 for the realization of the master's base, 10 boards for the sides and details of sections, 2 plates for the ends and the dock cranes. 2 boards for scaffolding and other elements of handling.
For ships or barges of servitude. Jean (Migou31 for some) got give his drawings to the 1/700 components cranes and barges the diorama of Mare Island. It is really super nice on his part.
I reworked the drawings to scale 1/350. In total there are 3 boards for the cranes on barges and 3 other boards for barges. For the latter I made the choice to the base in scratch. But I am back on this idea to do masters in PE to of molds and pour the resin parts.
And Yes you counted well 21 boards of PE. In the what must be added 3 other boards for the BB-59. Since John helped me to discover the vector drawing and the achievement of PE boards. I'm having.

The mold I pulled 10 resin mouldings:
Big surprise. Resin bases are convex. What forces me to resume them all in order to flatten the places where will come sticking the sides. Another small problem is the variation in the thickness of the resin parts. Not wanting to spend my months coming to sand, I did a test to dig into the base of the diorama to different bases to level and at the same height. However I dig me still the brains for the best sequence of mounting the Assembly.
For formatting the pontoons and have the same sides 20 pontoons to do. I made masters of guide for the mounting of the pontoons. In the following picture: the master, the mould and the result in castings.
I have as well other molds to make small parts in resin. On these coins the big problem is bubbles. First printings, there were bubbles of resin. But good I improved and a few bubbles remaining have been clogged with the Army Painter. The advantage of this solution is that it has ps need sanding. I put shaped dough Army Painter and just remove the surplus with a cutter. Right now I have all the parts in resin (attention to photo suite, it y a lot of pieces that come from the Arsenal - winches, bath 12, 7mm).

After test many scenarios, I finally managed to make the implementation of the elements of the dock and the alignment of the vertical sections. Currently the base stand. But the handling is still very fragile.
Based on all parts are installed. There are barriers to implement.
I was forced to rectify all the bases to make a flat surface for the reception of the vertical sections. White calles is intended to put these latest level and hone their alignment.
I did a montage of trials of the first two vertical sections (the base are installed in staggered rows - which has greatly complicated the Assembly). On the first I mounted the crane base to see if it is installed on these rails.
On the other hand, I have to redo for the third time the cab and the boom of the crane. Features of folding problem. But good to each version there is improvement. I have high hopes for version 3.
Before finishing the dock, I started installation of the different barges of servitude. Jean (or Migou33 for some) passed me these drawings to 1/700eme. I appropriated the latter (understand that the creator thought when creating) then amended the latter to achieve these same barges at 1/350. Jr make a big thank you to John for this gift.
The objective of this first Assembly and to validate parts and take into account any changes needed.

Still me have 3 barges to do. But on the latter there are quite a lot of changes to make. Then after I would spend to mount three cranes on barges and a barge type APL hut.
As you can see, there are still a lot of work to do.
