So a few things that I want to share pix with and ideas on the Ibuki kit, but first, even though it is a completed model, I want to show a few more things like doing rigging on masts, weathering, and a lower hull.
I do want to do rigging on the masts, radio antennae using such rigging, but have never done it before
. So I purchased a couple of different brands, one way of doing rigging, that I heard of, is using fly-fishing line, so I purchased some (ehh)expensive thread, I also bought Mig rigging to compare, but saw a YouTube video of somebody using Ulschi (sp) line. The thread is Veevus at 16/0 and 8/0 thickness (don't know what that means, but seller says it was the thinnest), the Mig rigging is @ 0.02 and 0.01mm, the Ulschi, I'm holding off to see which I prefer.
I also wanted to use the AK International weathering 'paints' (?), I want to do those for quite awhile. And I have AK has the Naval Weathering in sets 1 & 2, with various 'solutions'. I do have a couple of 'test "hulks"' that I have from previous builds that I will test the on. Hopefully, I can show both on this side of the site.
Lastly, I want to mention that Tamiya 1/700 Ibuki kit is a GREAT kit...to add more detail adding the PE for this kit (that I have already mentioned) adds A Lot, but in lacks the lower hull for the ship. Thanks to 'Spejic' who sent me several lower hulls for some of the ships I'm building, so here are a few pixs of the hull....
I also added brass rod to the struts, I have always had those plastic struts Break on me!!
, the brass color is a combo of gloss black undercoat follow-on by Model Master - Brass (enamel).
I do want to, again, thank 'spejic' for the assistance with the lower hull, but in addition those hulls were all wrapped separately, with associated gear....rudder, screws, fins, and a few hulls with sonar domes.
I will continue to show the rest of the updates...soon.
