Well, time to start the next one. My wonderful wife bought me the Yahagi with all the fixings a few years ago. I had put in 80 hours but side tracked to other projects. Now, this will be my only focus until completion. Here are the progress photos thus far:

Excellent pick Joe. Not one of my favorites but a great kit.

Looking sharp, Joe. I'm sure this will become a worthy example addition to the CASF Agano class thread.

Nice start man! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: I think you are done with the toughest P.E work, those girders are sure a PITA to set.

I finished what I consider a major step in any ship construction. The hull and deck painting is complete. I can start adding parts to the deck now.

Great work, Joe. Hard to believe you do all that painting BEFORE the railings and PE go on.

Thanks. To be honest, I find it's the best way to hide glue marks. I find painting over glue brings out irregularities. Glossing over unpainted glue makes it disappear without the noticeable bumps.

Dang, how did I miss the "small update" from October? Ah well, your Boxing Day update is awesome too!

Thanks for the compliments. I failed to mention I am using WEM paints for the whole thing. Yahagi is in Sasebo gray in 45. Definitely darker than the Kure that Myoko and Kongo are painted in.

Joe what kind of glue do you use when gluing painted rails? I remember I tried to airbrush the rails then glued them down with CA glue and a white color residue surfaced so I had to go over all those white spots by hand, since that time I've never tried painting the rails by itself.. beautiful job like always :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Thank you Jose! I use thin CA applied with a pin. I have never had any white spots that you mention. Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks Joe :thumbs_up_1: I never used a pin though, I used to squeeze a little of the crazy glue on a piece of paper and then gently with tweezers slide the rails over the glue. I'll give your technique a try when I get back on the game.

Inspiring. I have this kit with all the bells and whistles waiting for my courage to actually start it. I love how cleanly you build.

Nice... :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:
I'm wondering what method you have to shout down the glue reflections...

Nice work as always, Joe. For some reason, I thought you sprayed a gloss coat to hide the glue irregularities, then dull coated.

Thanks! I actually hand paint on future. You can see it on the stern but not forward of the 25 mm mounts because I'm not done yet in that area.
