Hey folks, I posted a few pics of my current build on one of the other threads. I had a lot of positive feedback, and requests to post more of my work in progress. So, I figured I'd just start my own thread. This build began a few months ago, so I'm not going to backtrack to the beginning of the build. If you want to see it from the start, go here:

http://swannysmodels.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1174012629

I have permission from Sean to post that link.

Otherwise, these are the most recent progress pics. This build, and the way it's being built ( With the exception that mine is full hull) is COMPLETELY inspired by Kelly Quirk, so..I gotta give him credit where credit is due. Thanks again Kelly...

Jason, that's great work so far. I see some Cyrus influence in there as well. Keep us posted, you are keeping me excited to stay the course on my Truman!

Looks great, Jason. What era are you planning for your Nimitz? And are those resin 'con flag' stations present during the late 1970s? Keep the pics coming. Thanks in advance!

hey,
I am building her circa 1995, not sure if they were there in the 70's or not..

Thanks gtb, but the work I have done thus far isn't even within the same realm as Cyrus. However, Kelly Quirk is correct in saying that what I have done is also influenced by Cyrus. My hope is that between Kelly and Cyrus's work, I can attempt to build on their levels....the key word being ATTEMPT! :lol_spit_1:

Ok, some updated pics. The Hanger bay is complete, and installed. I am now waiting on some Aircraft Decals to be completed for me, so I can permanently place some wingy things in the hangerbay, before I can close it up. I am very much looking forward that next step so I can finally light the thing, and see what it looks like!!! There are some other progress pics as well.....

thanks Jason.

As it happens, i've had a last minute change of plan and decided on the 05 Nimitz ahead of the Truman. Gotta have a crack at that Mast. U got any ideas on that one ?

Hiya Simon,
I would contact gtb-red, he is doing a dio with USS Nimitz(2005) plus an Arleigh Burke and a LA class sub.

Regards

John

I haven't gotten to the mast yet, but when I do, it will be for 1995, I'm sure it's much different then the 2005 version...I'd also check w/ gtb..

Oh yeah, that "late" mast is gonna be a hair-puller! (Asumming you are talking about the mast atop the island and NOT the radar mast behind it.)Lucky for me THAT stage is far down the road which gives me a lot of time to think about it. I the meantime hopefully some other builders will put forth some ideas. Since I myself am building a late Nimitz I must build it although I don't really want to.....I just don't like how it looks but thats me.

Shall I "cheat" and include the early mast?
