some progress, the island is decaled and weathered. I just need to rig her now. It's amazing how many flaws you can see when you click on the picture! OMG does it zoom in or what!! You can't see most of that stuff with the naked eye...so be gentle folks

Lookin' great Jason! :thumbs_up_1: Keep the pics coming. BTW....what is the red putty that I see you & others here use? I've not seen that before. For years I've stuck with good 'ole Squadron White & green.

A friend of mine turned me onto it, its called "Glazing and Spot Putty" made by Bondo. You can get it at any automotive store, and its used for body work on cars. Its only like 3-4 Dollars for a tube of the stuff that will last forever, and its much easier to work with in my opinion than squadron putty. I highly recommend it.

Hi Jason, are you going to use the Trumpter F-14's or the Tamiya F-14's? :wave_1:

The Trumpeter's, for no particular reason other than I just wanted to stay consistent with the Trumpeter's model of the Nimitz I guess..

Another thing Jason, when you start painting the centerline landing stripes on deck, you will find out that the centerline is incorrect.
You really need to relay on research material.

O-those chinese#$%^@!~ great guys, don't get me wrong...

I TOTALLY Forgot about this little piece of advice from awhile back. Now that my flight deck is finished, I see excatly what he is talking about. It is just a bit off from center. Note to other modelers doing this build!!

Well folks. After a year of work on this beast, I am finally calling her "complete". With the exception of the airwing, which I hope to have done in the next few days, she has been finalized. It has been the most challenging build of my life, and quite possibly will mean to most to me. Thanks to all of you for watching this build unfold over the last year, and thanks for all of your support and kind words. I especialy want to thank Jim Pearsall (local IPMS member), Eddie M (Swanny's), Gawonii (Swanny's), "Jondon" (Model Warships) and Tony Bunch (Modelwarships) for giving me various specific help with this build along the way. I also want to thank ship modeler Kelly Quirk (Model Warships) for the inspiration from his own Nimitz build. I especially want to thank Greg Ewald (Swannys) for his help on this build. The truth is, I simply could NOT have finished it with the things I wanted without his help. Thanks guys! Once I finish the airwing and such, I will post those final pics at that time.

Very nice Jason.

What did you use for the small blocks (lights) on the island numbers (plastic strip?)

Nice to see a different time framed ship than the norm, with the CIWS sponsor ajoinind the island.
