Here is my completed Usns Lewis B. Puller in 1/700

This unit is the head of a series divided into three types used for services far from the coast.
Lewis B. Puller in particular is used for demining operations with the MH-53E Sea Dragon pair with Mk-105 towable sled which causes the magnetic mines to explode; but the ship also lends itself to other types of services, quickly converting itself to the use of the US Army's AH-64.
The model is scratchbuilt using evergreen plates and strips and some stock in my possession.

This is a really cool ship to model and you did a fine job representing it.

I was wondering if you could give more information about how you built it. Where did you get diagrams for this ship? Or did you not use diagrams at all and just eyeball it from pictures? Can you talk about some of the 3rd-party parts you used? It looks like you used the PE from a LHD around the landing deck - if so you really pulled out all the stops on this one.

Hi, Thanks for the words of appreciation,
For the model I based myself on the ship's measurements reported on Navsource.org and translated into 1/700. it is the second time that I try my hand at scratchbuild ship, and I wasn't sure that the results could be satisfactory; the signs were seen immediately at the beginning when the shapes corresponded to the photos from various positions in my possession. from the hull onwards, things have become simpler because the superstructures are squared and simpler to reproduce. Having been many times on board the Us Navy units of the sixth fleet in Med, I am facilitated in detailing the bridges and equipment. Yes the walkways around the flight deck have been used from the Eduard PE sheet for the Uss Essex LHD and modified and modified for my needs. The masts are all self-made and the decals are part of my spare parts. the rest of the equipment such as cranes, lifeboats, radomes, helicopters, deck trucks, are always spare parts.
Regards.
Maurizio

'Maurizio', I must say...."You did a fine job, shipmate!!"....but I thought it was Lewis B. Puller....the FFG, then when I saw ESB-3....Whoa, lets check this out :woo_hoo: !

Then I remembered that the same kit was 3D printed, but I can see yours Is Not!! A hellva job in scratch-building....I just wish I had the amount of "spares" that you have.

Hi,
I am honored for your comments on the ESB-3, you are absolutely right for the titanic work done to make the model. If you can send me your email address, I will send you other pics of the work in progress also of the Usns Comfort T-AH-20 (scratchbuilt) in 1/700 scale.
Regards
Maurizio
