Breakwater finished, forecastle structure ready, and foredeck finished too.

ammo boxes are included in blackcat's set, and also capstan
various vents are leftovers from IJN models slightly adapted, or scratchbuilt
bitts are resin generics

I'm not all that familiar with the details of the very famous Tribal ships, they had the greatest names! I do notice compared to say a Fletcher or the other US destroyers of the era that they have a broad and much less knifelike bow which might be good for riding their home Northern waters.

Progress! T

thank you, as motivation is somewhat necessary !
Indeed, everything has to be corrected or relocated, portholes+doors added, etc... !

here, bridge had to be cut/lowered about 1,5/2mm

and then, more corrections to bridge/nav deck :

Here some early progress on wind deflectors made with some shipyardworks photoetch leftovers from Dunkerque ship retailored for my needs, and some bulkheads not modeled by trumpeter :

Attachment:

and a better view on finished deflectors :

so I managed to almost finish the bridge and forecaste upper deck but still missing a "covered table" and searchlight directors.

After a "no mood for work" period, I managed to finish bridge and forecastle, with some scratch, 3d printed stuff, and PE leftovers.

next step will be trying to redo the semtex way, as it is normally more outward, and 16ft dinghy position more inward.

thank you !

by the way, funnel #1 in place, after adding some scratchbuilt tubing, as Trumpy once again had wrong ones.

and semtex gangway on main deck has been also reshaped.
pretty happy with results. made with paper and very thin CA glue.
Obviously, it will be clearer when properly painted and contrasted with dark deck color.
current paint is just for quality control.

ammo/storage/liferaft boxes on quad vickers .50 platform had to be redone :

DSCN2579.JPG

and also lower bulkheads had to be fully redone, as Trumpy (once again) did them totally wrong :

still some some vent screens to add, however.

and beef screen in progress (totally scratchbuilt) :

Nice work. I especially like the pipe on the funnel and the beef screen. The semtex looks great too. What colors are you using for the deck and semtex?

thank you !

I chose Revell 77 RAL7012 for "dry asphalt" semtex hue.

For deck, I tried to find a match to NARN23 dark deck grey : I understood that NARN23 was based on old AP507A color. As I have old S&S RN chips, I found that Revell 78 RAL7024 would do the trick even if not a perfect match.

Attachment:

but is AP507A/NARN23 really a match to true deck color ? this color has not been able to be analysed in depth in the same way as 507A/B/HFG recently were. so i am happy with this.

And 507A/B/HFG is my home mix from various acrylics paint brands, painfully matched (and not so good...) to my NARN20 jar, as I really dislike using enamels (but thats another story !).

Dont ask for mix recipe, as it was a somewhat "1 step forward 2 steps back" empiricism process. It's however based on [1xlifecolorUA607+1xlifecolorUA609+2xrevell77] slighly darkened with various touches.
I managed to mix a full jar, and hope i will have enough left to participate in the camouflage of a (far) future RN cruiser.

Just catching up here. That's some very nice work. Love the bridge grating and details, funnel work, and the torpedo tubes.

As to paint mixing, that's how I arrive at my paint colors, hopefully matching the S&S chips. However one of the most frustrating things is to use up the supply and have to attempt an accurate re match!

Who wouldn't love a ship named Eskimo or Zulu!

ok second funnel done, and various deck equipments in place

note that winch is scratch (not included...), and small crane is a leftover from an earlier project, as shape is far more better than inbox one.
the "hood" (?) at the rear of the last funnel is done in paper soaked with thin CA glue, and again, was not included.
timber reserve is done with not used inbox funnel piping (yes !).

and here, rear part ready to be sanded, as each locator hole has to be filled, as every ammo box, hatch, door,... has to be relocated or even replaced.
