hey all
Finished this one last night after a 3 week build period. It's not meant to be a hardcore representation of the Bismarck - I added just the Eduard PE set and the crappy Pontos wooden deck sticker (which is giving me a headache with its really bad adhesion properties). The paint scheme is based on the "Too Hot too handle" camo pattern from WOWSL. The rigging is not accurate either. The PE work is less than stella and there are a multitude of other issues that would prohibit it from being any kind of competition contender - BUT - it was a fun build and now sits alongside the Alaska.
The DKM H Class battleship ("Pommern" basically) is on the to-do list as well as the HMS Exeter, New Jersey and Yamato

Sorry for the not so great pictures - I am having to resort to my phone lately because the battery for my DSLR blew up and I haven't bought a new one yet.

As always, thanks for stopping in and having a look

Si

Well, I'm not a particular fan of this kind of paintings. I prefer realistic paintings.

After that, I must admit that your painting skills is very good especially the curved paint parts.
How did you make them?
Usualli I have difficulties when I use the tape for creating curved lines, I can't be linear and tape bends continually. Any suggestion?
Thanks

Very nice paintjob. She will stick out like a sore thumb in the Computer game Denmark Straits though!

Thank you for your appreciation :thumbs_up_1: Yep, these kinds of paint jobs can be quite polarizing. Personally, I am on the side of doing what I think looks cool rather than absolute dedication to the details.

To get the curves to the exact shape and to be where I want them, I just lay a strip/s of tape on the bench, then draw out the shape I want and cut it out freehand then apply. A cheaper and only alternative to a laser cut masks. You could even use blue-tac to do the complex line and then mask off the rest as needed. Any gaps can be covered with masking fluid.
You can use flexi tape but I find just drawing the pattern out on the tape whilst it is stuck to the ship is easier. It works for the smaller things too like the secondary guns and cannons.

Oh yeah, this camo is definitely not fit for purpose in anyway shape of form. Mind you, this one is tame when compared to some of the seriously garish skins you can get for other ships

That is a killer paint scheme! It really does take a lot to do all those colors, and to make it look crisp and clean, which you have definitely showed here.
