Matt, I look froward to seeing your build.

Most of the USS O'Bannon is now painted blue. I did forget a couple of pieces but I'll paint them tomorrow.
I painted the decks a mixtrue of black and dark gray for the non-skid area. I masked the non-skid area and painted the decks Deck Blue 20B. The decks looked too dark after the paint had dried and I thought I had painted the decks the wrong color. Nope, they were painted with the correct color but the dark non-skid color made the decks look darker. Next time I will lighten the Deck Blue even more. Model and learn.

The decks have been repainted with a Deck Blue 20B that has been lightened even more. 12-15-09

These are the new pictures after the repaint.

Gordon, how about if you use pastels to lighten the deck color? It worked for myself in the past.

Thanks for the tip.

Bob, What colors did you use to lighten your decks. Did you use a single color or a mixture of colors?

I remasked and repainted the decks with a lighter Deck Blue but it still looks a little dark even though it is now
lighter.

My progress on the O'Bannon is not moving at flank speed but progress has been made. I'm at the point of adding the little bits on to the ship. She needs the 1.1" director, floater baskets & canvus covers for the rear stack, 20mm guns, 4 rafts, anchors, some deck details, rigging, somrthings I've forgotten about and some paint touch-ups.
