The builder actually created both the USS North Carolina and the IJN Takao during the same battle - here launching long lance torpedoes....

Notice the streaks in the waters - a little builders' license since I don't think the long lance actually created a bubble trail....

And yes, I know the IJN didn't have black boot stripes - unfortunately the builder didn't (at the time...)

One of my favorite and a runner up at Tamyiacon? was this depicting the Prince of Wales mortally wounded and listing while the HMS Express takes off survivors.

Pulled out of night carrier training activities and put into combat, here USS Saratoga prepares an alpha-strike against Iwo Jima, just a few days before being hit by a kamikaze of Chi-chi Jima...
