Thanks for the kind words Carl.
The base is from "Michaels" arts and crafts chain store. They offer a 40% off any item coupon in the paper here. It is one of their cases, they have about 3 or 4 sizes. It lists for about $20 (minus 40% if you have the coupon).
Trumpeter also makes some very nice clear cases with a good variety of sizes that fit 1/700 ships. Kind of hard to find though, at least in my LHS.
hope this helps
Thanks for the info on the cases, Dan. I'll check out my local Michaels stores. The Trumpeter cases I find to be rather expensive for what they are. The IMEX cases were the best, for me, and at a reasonable price but, the sizes that I know need for 1/700 cruisers and larger are not longer being produced or available.
As a tip, I have rattle-canned some clear base cases in black, from the bottom. I mask off the edges and top of the base and spray the bottom. This, of course, is for those cases that have clear bases instead of the black ones that I prefer. With clear bases, one could make them whatever color they'd want, I guess.
PIONEER is another brand of display cases that I have seen at Hobby Lobby stores. I've spray painted the bottoms of these, before. They could be just a little taller, though.
