Hi my friends!

I´m very happy because my collection reaches the 440 modelships!...

The previous record had Phillip Warren of England with 432 ships made with stick matches... Mr. Warren was an inspiration for me because he past 65 years building good looking modelships...

Well, in 13 years building ships now I have 440... and 200 more in boxes...

I want to thank Sean & Tim and all those who are the modelwarships family... since this page was the first in which publish my model ships ... What started with a couple of them now is a large collection ... I once had to apologize to Tim because he had sent so many pictures that had very busy! :) ... a hug for everyone.

I want to share to you pics of my collection, you can see each one in my blog :

Hi Eric

Thanks for the inspiration. I too have ambitions to build 500+ Models but after 15 years I've managed only 210 (with another 350 waiting in boxes).

I love the display of your mighty fleet steaming towards the camera, although I note the Yamato steaming alongside the Washington and Iowa; there might be some trouble there. There seems to be a plan in your building - I note one of each class of US Battleship and other signs of purposeful building of your collection. I also notice phases you've gone through in modelbuilding from crisp and brightly painted to weathered realism.

So perhaps you or other board members could assist me with my difficulties;

First - How do i balance my desire to complete a collection of models with my desire to expand the scope of the collection?

Secondly - How do I reconcile my desire to add ever more detail to each kit I complete with my desire to complete ever more models in the same timeframe?

Thanks

Lester Abbey

Hi Lester...
thanks my friend...

well, about your collection...

I think that some models are for just funny because are old molds or the kits could be bad... and this models are the perfect way to mix with the good kits...

for example, when i finished a ship that was hard to build i need a easy kit for my next proyect... one easy and not good looking kit to build without the stress of details, photoetched, etc...

or maybe you can start a submarine... easy kits to ensemble... and only the paint could be difficult...

sorry but my english is too bad, ha, ha... i dont use the google translator...

but it could be my words... mix hard kits with easy kits or submarines...

grettings!

Man, that is one impressive collection. Looks like you've done some very nice quality work, not just quantity. Congratulations on that collection. You are a one man maritime museum!

Where did you get your time?

How long does it takes you to build a diorama?

Hi Akula,

well a diorama takes 1 or 2 weeks depending if the ships have camouflage or not... if the ships are simply to paint takes 1 week...

grettings! :wave_1:

Question - will you continue to build ? And if the day comes when you feel enough is enough, what will you do with all those models ? selling is easy (just the asking price is hard) but packing and shipping can be a nightmare, you're also on my facebook as well.

I was a bit shocked the day I approached the Guinness Book of Records, I always asumed it was free, but its not cheap, I did a collection of builds never seen before and thought great, I'll have those sent up, but when the price tag came back at over £100.00 I thought stuff it.

Thanks my friends! well, now reaching 480 warships... :thumbs_up_1:

good question!... when i will stoped!... i dont know... my favorite hobby is building ships... usually i building more than hour by day... i dont know what to do if i keep out from my little ships!

the old record of modelships build by one modeler was 430... i was submited a format to Guinesss Record to ask about if my collection now are the biggest... but it wait 10 weeks or more... ill waiting... but if you want a certificate you must invite a judge... and the cost are around USD$15,000 :Tirade: ha,ha...

well with this money y prefer to buy more ships!... sure!... but some poeple of Guinness tell me that i could find a partner or contributor... well... here in my country the people dont have enough interest...

Maybe i will send and show all my collection in a permanent museum or exhibition on another country... :thumbs_up_1:

Grettings!

I am not sure whether I should envy the time you can devote to modeling, or pity the time you didn't devote to a social life.

Who needs a social life when one has 480 completed (to a high standard of excellence) models?

A social life is overrated in my opinion.
