I remember reading that Hitler originally wanted 70-80,000 ton superbattleships with 20 inch guns but Raede persuaded him to accept smaller 16 inch battleships as being more practical in terms of docks and ports and the 16 inch caliber gun as the biggest gun needed. Germans favored having four twin turrets when possible but did have some triple turreted ships. What if Hitler had proved stubborn on super sized battleships but was persuaded to accept sixteen inch guns in a four triple turreted arrangement ala the USN Montana class. Combat power would be increased 50% w/o having to design and build 20 inch guns and displacement could be less.
