Always been a big fan of the book by Alistair MacLean. It was instrumental in encouraging me to pursue a career at sea (dunno why  !!).

Now that I am also into modelling, was thinking of building a Dido-class to represent the Ulysses, as true as possible to the end of the book, right before her sinking.

Any ideas on how to proceed? Especially the extensive battle damage? Does a kit exist for this class?

A member of this forum very kindly informed me look at the Flyhawk 1/700 HMS Naiad. Sadly I lost the email he sent, and I cannot thank him personally.
But I have been able to gather a list of materials to proceed with this project. It will be long and maybe futile, but definitely one that I want to pursue.

1/700 HMS Naiad - Plastic
HMS Dido - WEM Detail up PE set
3-Bar Rails & Ladders Detail Set - WEM
Assorted Brass Sheets .001, .002, .003 and .005

Next step will be to look for any substantial differences between the Naiad and the description of the Ulysses and then to document all the damage to the Ulysses before her sinking.
