What-If USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19)

Post by Cliffy B »

Hello again gents, I just ordered a 1/700 Trumpy Blue Ridge from Freetime that they say is "damaged" IE the box is trashed but the kit is fine for $8!!!! Couldn't pass it up. From looking at the design though several whiff ideas popped into my head. I was thinking about turning her into some sort of LPH/Commando ship with all those recesses in the hull for boats and the very flat deck. Could put LCAs in davits and square off the deck into some helo landing areas, maybe even Harriers. Redo the superstructure with a massive hangar. The ideas are endless it seems.

Questions though, could a "hangar deck" be constructed if you removed some of the C3 spaces? WHERE are the stack(s) on the ships?

Any other ideas on mods?

Well the hull was based upon Iwo Jima class LPH, so yes converting back would be good whiff, as the sponsons would as you see be ideal for landing craft.
