Sounds like something I'd be interested in. I'm working on designing several new carrier and battleship designs. Here's the list:
1. USS Excalibur class- Something of a pet project. I know the navy would NEVER spend this much money on a ship, but here's the specs. 2300 foot long mobile airstrip. Capable of carrying over 250 aircraft, and could use larger and more powerful aircraft, like the A-10 Thunderbolt II or F-15E Strike Eagle. 2 ships in the class. Could possibly carry a single 16" double gun turret because of size for protection.
2. USS Dauntless class- Same idea as the Excalibur class, but with a length of 2500 feet. Has an aircraft complement of about 270. 2 ships in class
3. USS Posiedon class- Los Angeles class sub derivative. Has a third set of diving planes for better diving and surfacing. First US military submarine with 5 pressure hulls. Also has a small amount of Trident missiles on it, making it have both anti-sub and missile launch roles
4. USS John Rodgers class- Variation of the Ticonderoga class cruiser. Has main superstructure, but placed above a through-ship flight deck. Rear "ski jump" to assist with takeoff.
5. USS Utah class- First stealth BBGN. Based off smaller LCS-2 trimaran hull, but about 900 feet in length. Has two 16" triple turrets. Also has two VLS missile bays, four MK 110 57mm guns, and four Phalanx CIWS. 5 in class.
6. USS Montana class- First Post-war battleship series. 5 in class. 1000 foot design. Has four 18" triple turrets, and numerous other weapons systems. Also has a helicopter hanger inside the rear (Landing pad is like elevator on early carriers).
7. USS Illinois and Kentucky- I know, many people are already doing this one. But, the main difference between mine and theirs is that mine will be centralized around the use of mainly F-35s. Essentially the standard Iowa class but with a rear flight deck. Deck is designed so rear turret can still be used, but it is covered until needed. Rear flight deck has opening area for gun to pop up for firing.
8. Anchorage class- New US corvette type vessel based off a scaled down Perry class hull.
