Hi fellows,

I've just received the Combrig Askold in 1/700, together with the WEM etched set and wanted to know the colour it was painted during WW1 service alongside the Royal Navy. The instructions say "olive drab" overall but the funnels were left as they were (buff/yellow with black tops - but presumably stained and dingy now?). Can anyone suggest a decent paint match for this Russian colour, please?

Also - I've seen elsewhere that the anti-torpedo nets were discarded during the war - with the booms as well?

Many thanks for any replies.

Cheers
GrahamB

Peppe, isn't there a ship in front of Askold in the dazzle image? There's an extra funnel in front Askold's mainmast that looks like it belongs to a merchant ship parked alongside Askold - it seems like the dazzle paint belongs to that merchant ship.

Thanks.
Yes that is a dazzled merchant ship - probably British from the style.

I'll go with a greenish-grey for the Askold.
