Dear all,

Please, I kindly ask your help.

Based on what I have read, there is a doubt whether USS Gato (SS-212) wore 32/3SS-B or 32/9SS-B camouflage in 1944 and 1945.

Please, does anyone know what is the correct camouflage for her?

It seems 32/3SS-B for me based on these pictures:

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Alex.

One resource NavSource also has is the War Patrol Reports. I found the reports for my grandfather's boat, Barbero there. The report might state what camouflage the boat was wearing, for instance the report for Barbero says "light gray camouflage" so 32/3SS-B.

Hello Maccrage!

Thanks for your message!

Unfortunately this is not the case for USS Gato. I have read her War Patrol Report but no mention of the camouflage whatsoever.

Best regards,

Alex.

I looked at a few of Gato's reports, and you're right. Barbero's report states the boat's camouflage right after the list of all aircraft contacts. That should at least give you a place to start looking. I only looked at two of Gato's from mid 44. She had a few(lol) more than Barbero did.
