I'm building the Combrig M33. I've settled on this photo as the one I want to use for color reference. I'm okay with choosing the light gray on the hull, turrets and lower superstructure, and then I'll just darken that a bit for the upper superstructure, bridge, stack and vents. White for the false bow wave. My question is about the deck. I know they used corticene (red brown) on parts of the deck, but what areas? I assume the high traffic areas on the superstructure and bridge, but I'm not sure. And the decks that aren't corticene, I assume are a darker gray?

I'm not sure about corticene. Drawings of their M19 class half sisters in Big Gun Monitors have attachment points for coconut matting similar to those used on destroyers at the time.
Coconut matting can be done in '700 by painting strips of masking tape dark brown. The rest of the deck would be dark grey like you mentioned.

As an alternative, the scheme in which M33 is currently painted is quite spectacular - and is based upon photographic evidence - see https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... glory.html (scroll down a long way to find a contemporary photo of the ship in the present scheme).
