Anyone interested in a group build for the summer? I'm thinking going from April(Now) to Sept. 30th. That should be enough time I think. If you have one started and partially completed already that is okay.

Any navy, any era, any scale, it must have been classified as a cruiser of some type in its history, ships converted too or from cruisers fit this category and are accepted as well.

Participants: If you want, please create a WIP thread for your build in the Picture Post area and I'll add the link here. Keep a record and photos of your progress there, post a photo of the finished model in this thread when it is done.

Build List:

ajkochev-1/700 Tamiya IJN Yahagi http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=156237

I have the Tamiya 1/350 Mikuma and could join in.

The hull is assembled (though not the 01 deck), and not much else has been done with it.

I'm in. I have been thinking about building another nuclear powered ship to go with the Long Beach. I've ordered Dragon's 1/700 USS Arkansas CGN41 and Flighthawks' pe set for the Virginia from Free Time. I'll get started when the order shows up at my door.

This morning I ordered a display case from Squadron to put this build in. Now to wait until everything gets here.

I'd like to take a crack as well. I've got a partially begun 1/700 Midship Models USS Cleveland that I need to get going on again. Basically the hull is painted and construction has begun on the superstructure. I am out of town for the weekend but I can post a picture for you to determine if it is in an acceptable state for entry when I get home next week..

I'm in. I really need to get to work on my USS Indianapolis. This will give me incentive to work on it.

...is USS Maine technically a cruiser? I had the build going well until my dog decided it was a comfortable thing to lay down on while I was moving. I need a reason to finish her.

According to Wikipedia the 1889 USS Maine was a cruiser, the others...... were battleships.

Fantastic. If I can find the bits I need to repair her, count me in.

sorry guys, no WIP photos of "da 'Ville", she took a road trip to the NOVA contest this past weekend with her sisters (and without me). I need to take a look at her when I get her back before I start posting photos of her.

I'm in. I will be Doing Trumpy's Belfast. All I have done so far is waterlines the hull. Or I could start my second Tamiya Tone.

Here is a photo of where I am at with this build. The hull and superstructure are painted and I've done some PE work, completing the A/C crane and catapults:

Ok, I'll bite. I've had Hasegawa's Yahagi lurking in the stash for a few years and just recently acquired two PE sets for it. Here is where she is at tonight.

I will start a WIP when get a little more progress. Tonight was just plan of attack and hull assembly.

Looking forward to seeing everyone else's builds,

Matt

I'm in as well :wave_1:

I have a Trumpeter kit that I'm trying to beat into an accurate USS Vincennes CA-44. Here's an earlier picture. Since this I've also cut up the platform just aft of No.2 turret and brought it down to the correct level. The camouflage is also about half done.

I'm not planning to start a dedicated Work in Progress thread but I'll post pictures in the Completed section when she's done. I also have IJN Chokai in the post.

Do battlecruisers count as "cruisers" for the purpose of this thread?

Hello all, did I get everyone listed in the top post?

Also, if you've got a WOP thread send me the link in a PM or post it here and I'll add it to the top post.

I have finally gotten around to getting photos of the Indianapolis. I must admit, that ship has way too many fragile parts. Anyway, here are the photos:

Most of the superstructure is just sitting in place right now. They are about to be painted. Currently the only painted parts are the lower hull and part of the upper deck (Which is wrong for the year I am portraying the ship).

More will be posted soon.
