Here are a couple of pics before I got sick as mentioned in my post above. One thing I forgot to mention is, I HATE RATLINES! :mad_2: These almost drove me to drink. I probably should have. :heh:

Ok... Progress report, although I am thinking of not dullcoating, except doing some more weathering....

Fantastic work Nick! Do whatever you feel comfortable with. For myself weathering is alot easier than dullcoating, and I have to do both too. :heh:

Almost finished here. Started rigging last night. Once that is done a clear flat and some weathering should complete it.

I am hoping we do not lose power here in Oklahoma, Oologah to be exact. I have 5 foster puppies in the room adjacent to my model room, so not much feeling like modeling. They are wearing me and my wife out. :sleepy:

Mike this is a very clean build and nice paintjob... :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Are the ships fixed to place? Perhaps you could place them a little more apart...

Congratulations for your scratchbuild skills and for all the little details (Ropes, sandbags....) which add a touch to realism :thumbs_up_1:

I beg to differ. This is an incredibiliy outstanding scratchbuild AJ! :woo_hoo:
It looks like an existing kit already in production.

Did you use putty to make your ropes? I think I remember Jeff Lin using this technique.

Thank you for the compliments. I still feel a kit build would look better. The ropes are fine wire taken from the woven sheilding of a TV(Coaxial) cable. They are shaped, painted then glued to the model and touched up.

GTDEATH13 - now that your group build is finished, will you also be posting a photo of each completed model of those that took part ? Or maybe one of the Moderators could help you, it just seems a bit of a shame that quite a few people joined in, all knowing when to build and when they required to be finished by, and a rather deflated balloon otherwise.

Here is my entry Suraga Maru 1943. Weathering was done with pastels and Rustall.

My 1:700 Kagu Maru is going to miss the finish line, but I think my past couple of weekends have been better spent.

The car my son and I built took second place overall in his Cub Scout Pinewood Derby. A good friend of his built a slightly faster car, but second out of 95 still feels great, and we had a good time building it together.

Well, thanks to some family issues and life getting in the way I didn't get very far by today. I'll start a thread over in the WIP section later and continue in there. I was able to get the hulls and superstructures painted and ready for some PE but not much further than that. Oh well, I'll finish 'em when I can. I'd rather not ruin another kit.
