I have to withdraw from this group build, as I haven't even started a DD yet. I'm trying to get one or two other ships done for Jerseycon on Oct 22.

Bob, sorry to hear you dropping out.

Basically 2 weeks left everyone, let's keep it going for a strong finish.

I am going to have to drop out also. A lot of the detail parts I want are on backorder (STILL :Mad_5: ) and I just can't bring myself to use the kit parts just to get it done.

Oh well, there is always the next group build......Battleships Right?

Can we extend by seven days max the deadline for this build.
It would appear that i'm not the only one hit by unplanned problems that do not relate to the actual build.

Please, ok, pritty please

Main parts are glued and painted yet I still have to add steam pipes, do the weathering, rigging, add the boats and a few more details...

Well this is the best i can do for now, would still like to add a touch of weathering and the odd bit of extra detail but i had my shifts altered so building when on nights is a no no so i'll call it finished.

The type IV Hunt class were loathed by their Lordships in the Admiralty but much loved by their crews.
What we see in this design is the fore runner of post war RN ship design for many years to come.
With a high freeboard long focsle deck and short quarter deck they were good sea keepers, all torpedo training gear was below decks and the bridge was designed to deflect wind better plus having protection often found in much larger ships.

Has it really been 6 months? What a fun 6 months it has been and some really fantastic builds as well. It looks like the following builds will be going in for the judging awards,

California Bound -- 1/350 Marshal Shaposhnikov 543 (Trumpeter)
Thundergrunt -- 1/700 USS Heywood Edwards (Trumpeter)
Roy Allen -- 1/700 Type IV Hunt, HMS Brissenden
Bob Dedmon -- 1/700 USS Monssen DD-436 (Dragon)
Gary Griffith -- 1/350 USS Charles F. Hughes DD-428 (Dragon)

This will be a hard one, you guys really brought forward some fantastic builds. If any of the above builders would like to submit some additional photos for the judging, please e-mail me or post them here.

Great job everyone and stand by for the results

Matt

Ok, my decision is made and boy it wasn't easy! I have sent the ratings off to the Sponsors to get their input and consent on the winners. Once I hear back from them, I will post the results.

Great job everyone :thumbs_up_1:

Hello, Happy new Year!
Competition is over yet I'll try to finish my Tonkinois!

Weathering the hull with sand, brown, very light grey and black

Added the rope than ran around the hull, probably to help any sailor getting back aboard after an unwilled bath (painted fishing line).
