Hi Ron I have been away for two days so just catching up the posts. Anthony's Tid tug is just superb and to top it all it’s powered by real steam.
For those that perhaps are unaware Anthony is no stranger to model boats having gained a Silver medal at the “Model Engineering Exhibition” with his model of the Steam Coaster Moonlight, these awards are next to NAVIGA the very highest you can get in the modelling world. Anthony went on to publish his build in what is perhaps model ship buildings most respected journal the Model Shipwright. To put it bluntly Anthony Horribin is more than a chip of the old block he is one of the outstanding model builder I have come across and a real stickler for fine detail.

Hello everyone,

I would just like to say thank you for your comments, especially Dave's regarding my model of the Moonlight. I have been building the TID since 2002 when I purchased the steam plant and hull. I was very lucky to contact another keen modeller, Alan Rose, who went out to the vessel, moored in Chatham to take lots of detail photographs so that I could start on the construction. Initally I completed the steam plant and basic superstructure before I had a long layoff. Over the last two years I have been building the fittings, wheelhouse and funnel. There is still a lot to do, each day I study the photo's and find something else to add to the list of things to do before it will be complete.

My girlfriend thinks it will be finished for Easter considering the progress I have made recently, but which Easter I am not quite sure..........

Seeing as Dave posted the a picture of the Model Shipwright journal No.87 which contained the article of the SS Moonlight I built back in 1992 I thought I would include a link to the actual model in question detailing how I built it.

I still have the Mamod Steam Car and Traction engine I received for christmas presents about 35 years ago. They are as good as new. I remember the smell of the fuel tablets whilst waiting for the water to boil.

I have to say, Anthony was braught up with toys like train sets, traction engins and cars in live steam, r/c cars and lorries, Leggo by the bucket full, got a suit case in the attic full, static aircraft, flying models rubber powered.

He got me into modelboats, wanted one for his birthday, built it intime, and he changed his mind and wanted a bycicle, :heh: :heh:

The Leggo is 38 years old, still in use, as you have seen in my shipbuilding. :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:
