Merchant ships don't take very long as they don't have any guns, or much fancy decoration. Because I work at 32 feet to 1 inch, they are small enough to rig with fine copper wire, glued on. There are no knots anywhere. Sailing ships are much easier to build than steam ships because they have fewer decks and rails. Only thing stopping most modellers from building them is they decide they could never do it, and don't like merchant ships anyway! Others say they haven't the time, but when I ask how long it takes to build a kit, it is usually months or even years! This one is now in Panama! Bob |
