I posted my thoughts on the new USS Ward kit on the New Jersey IPMS website:

Looks like a sweet, little kit.

I'm on a build, not buy, restriction (self-imposed), but goodness this kit is tempting me. Thanks for your review, Devin. Very timely. And Father's Day is coming up....

It's worth noting that Blue Ridge Models has also come out with a 1:700 version of the Ward, cast in resin, and including an extensive PE kit. It has also been reviewed here at MWS.com. Much as I've loved BRM's recent releases, the single piece hull and superstructure casting presents a more challenging painting environment, at least in my mind. I like my decks with as little on them as possible to facilitate more rapid painting and cleaner mask and paint lines before superstructure assembly.

I just received my copy and it's a lovely kit but I think examining photos of Ward at Pearl will show that the Girder holes were not visible by that time. It will make it easy to back date the Kit to some WW1 versions which I plan to do

I can say I'M REALLY IMPRESSED on this kit. Detail (check), deck camber (wow, really), possibilities............DD, APD, DMS etc

Beats spending 40 bucks on a resin kit.
