I'd really like to know how many guns comes in one package. I'm really hoping for eight. If you own it how is the level of detail?

I own a similar set from both Veteran and Ocean Spirit but each only has four units per package and are almost never in stock ANYWHERE. If you know of another manufacturer that doesn't charge you an arm and a leg and actually makes them available(ie in stock), I'd love to hear about them.

Thanks in advance.

By the way, have you thought about this one?

Looks like there are 4 127mm mounts in there, amongst other guns.

Honestly for the price the Veterans once are a last resort. I'm interested in the FineMolds, I forgot they were going to make those. Does anyone know how many come in ta box?

The ebay ones are from Ocean Spirit, I managed to get one set(not from this seller) and I will likely get more. Just as good as the Veteran ones but half the price!

It seems there're only four per box in the Finemolds set :(

Price gouge :heh: , but everyone else but Ocean Spirt is selling four to six for $15 to $20 with these 12.7cm AA. I thought getting 24 type 96 AA for this price was bad this makes each near $4 to 5! :mad_1: I ordered a few sets from the Ebay vendor. Thanks everyone for your input. If you want a review let me know and I'll take a few photos of the Ocean Spirit ones but you won't be disapointed at what you get for the price.

Try luckymodel.com. It is a Hong Kong company. They usually ship photo etch for free.

Fine Molds usually puts 8 (two sprues) in a box. Mine are inbound.

The new PitRoad set is also very good, 8 per box.

That would be nice!

I am quite interested in these, they look pretty detailed.

Btw, have you any other of their sets? Those sand bags caught my eye:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/PE-1-700-IJN-Protective-Sandbag-H045-/170649410933?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27bb7f5d75

As well as Type96 25mm mounts (single, double and triple)

Edit: The same seller on ebay has quite few sets from company Rainbow.
Anybody had some experiences with these sets?

Well, actually at this seller not anything near half the price, when you add shipping (ok, you may order something else so the shipping goes down a bit for each ordered item).

Have a look at LuckyModel, they have free shipping for many chinese made AM sets and Veteran also:

This is a brief overview of the Ocean Spirit 1/700 IJN 12.7 cm AA Resin/PE set. The set comes with enough to make 4 guns. The dime is there to compare the size. There is alot of detail on the resin parts and the barrels and PE are equilly good. They look fairly accurate to me and I look forward to using them on my ships. Cost: $11

Thanks for the pictures.

This set seems to have fewer resin and more PE parts per gun than Veteran Models set.

I think I will be getting one of these.

I have the LR and the Ocean Spirit. I think that the OS ones win in detail hands down.

As for Veteran...the photos look great, but dang....that price :dead:

I have heard Fine Molds has them now too...haven't seen or heard anything about those yet....

One word of caution about the Ocean Spirit guns...the top resin part (recoil tubes) break easy.

I just received the Fine Mold mounts. Frankly, I've found the new PitRoad NE01 set versions to be superior to everything else out there, styrene or resin so, I was very curious to see how these would compare.

Qualitatively, I'm impressed. They are even more finely molded (no pun intended) then the PitRoad versions, with more details and, amazingly, tapered barrels. In 1/700 styrene, I think that is amazing. They split the mount into 5 pieces, so that more detail could be added via slide molding. While the additional parts means more assembly (though nothing like the resin sets), FineMolds has done a better job than PitRoad of providing accurate alignment pins for the recoil tubes atop the twin barrels.

The big, big downside is that you get only 4 to a box. That's incredibly pricey for US$11+.

(note to moderators: May I suggest combing this thread with the other 1/700 IJN 12.7cm HA gun thread under the reviews section, and perhaps titling them: 1/700 IJN 12.7cm HA gun accessory sets?)

Actually I am surprised the Fine Molds set wasn't more expensive than $11 based on their 25mm offerings. This puts them at parity with the Ocean Spirit set.

I posted some questions on the workings of the 12.7cm's as well, a few days ago in the main forum. Maybe a combined thread on all things 12.7cm or how about a topic in CASF like ship's appliance's or a separate topic on armament ?

This is exactly what I was hoping would happen...a price battle over type 89's. :heh:
With the arrival of Ocean Spirit on the scene, it looks like we may see more competitive pricing on theses things. I have been wavering on Veterans but their pricing kept me away. Still not cheap, but with the added fusing tables and practice machine goodies in their sets, they are back in the race.

Could it be that "supply and demand" actually is a valid theory ?
I am sooo confused...
