The "ShipCraft" series provides detailed information on the construction and modification of model kits of famous warships. Until now, these books have generally focused on plastic and resin models of 20th century subjects, but this volume is a radical change: it is not only a period sailing ship, but one for which kits are available in many different materials and scales. This requires some changes in the standard approach, but the main features of the series remain constant.

The Victory, Nelson's flagship at Trafalgar, is probably the most famous warship in the world, and survives in restored form in Portsmouth. With numerous illustrations, this book provides the modeler with a brief history of the ship, highlighting the differences in appearance over her long career. Detailed color profiles reveal the decorative details and changes in paint schemes over the past 250 years, and highlight some of the questionable features on which experts still disagree. The modeling section reviews the strengths and weaknesses of the available kits, lists commercial accessory packages for superb detailing, and provides tips for modifying and improving the basic kit, including rigging complexities. It is followed by an extensive photo gallery of selected high-quality models in various scales, and the cover concludes with a section on research references - books, monographs, large-scale plans, and relevant websites.

In keeping with the series' model, this book provides an unparalleled level of visual information-painting schemes, models, line drawings, and photographs-and is simply the best reference for anyone interested in modeling this massive three-deck.
