didn't thought on that.

I also should have done it in paper soaked with thin CA glue. thats something I already did with success.

but as my baseplate is already somewhat damaged, I will try the 2nd one with PE also.
after some puttying , cleaning and surfacing, if that still really seem too crappy, I will hope for replacement parts.

so, with some labor and patience, I managed to achieve something relatively acceptable (and cannot really go another way now) :

and some preparatory work for some structures :

some mods and additionnal pillars, using barbieri's model as reference :

Attachment:

and in need of 4 additionnal reels :

there is more reel support than needed, but not enough round sides to do the additionnal needed ones, so I will use the PE 20mm round bases to do them as they luckily have same diameter. I will place them in the most hidden places.

still some work on lower hull : secondary rudders have to be relocated, and old big locator hole has already been filled/sanded/primed/etc...

and Ro43 has been done, using a mix of trumpeter and MAS decals.
upper paint is grigio azzuro scuro 3 (lifecolor UA022 FS36118 is good), lower is grigio azzuro chiaro 1 (lifecolor UA113).

and first floor of main superstructure is also ready.

I will place it later, after finishing some work on barbette 2, after having painted the foredeck stripes, and after rudders placement, to avoid too much in situ manipulations

ouch ! what a dilemma !

I noticed too late that single 37mm guns are not standard mount but a special mount, collapsible into a deck cannister.

but eduard (and also flyhawk) equips them in a standard mount fashion.
so my all 4 mount are now heavily modified with scratch and photoetch into standard mounts :

so, what to do ??

- reverse engineering ?
- can someone send me 4 pieces, number G20 if he considers to not use them ?
- or simply close the doors of canisters, without extended mount ?

and is also clearly visible on barbieri's model...

so be warned : do not adapt photoetch pieces from eduard nor flyhawk to your single 37 mounts as those mounts will be false !

That was a tough decision after spending that much time (and some money) on those mounts. Glad they came out nice.
Great work so far! Quite a challenge to get those stripes right :heh: :heh:

Yup ! Wasnt as hard as thought. Just take your time, be patient, and accept to do a lot of touch up. There is no alternative.

turrets ready for painting.

eduards turret #2 round casemate has a too flat top and slits are wrong. was redone with a straw cut and filled with CA glue. vision slits will be done with black decals, as will those of the small "periscopes" at the top of leftsided telemeter, as those molded are also incomplete/false (filled for now).
