Hi Guys, I have started on the 5 inch 51 rear platform.

I shaped my brass and soldiered a few sections together.

Then I cut out the shape in plywood.

The whole thing was glued together and the legs and side braces were glued in place.

Viewed from the rear.

The port side guard was shaped and glued in place.

The same thing with the next level of guards, this was soldiered near to the middle.

The open bridge was cut down to its correct level.

I know I've said this before, but this model is looking very impressive!
I'd like to scratchbuild a Treasury-class cutter myself one day, though probably in a rather smaller scale - what source/dealer did you get the plans for

Hi, Bill Clarke who comes over from the US every year to visit Dave Wooley and go to the german show brought them over for me, he also brought the Moffet photo,s.

There is a photo on the site of him presenting me with a set of drawings, they were the DUANE ones.

I like your brass work.
I look forward to the glow of brass on your models.
I spoke to D/W the other day on Brass and he thinks it is getting very good press because there is more Photo-etch available in bigger scales.
I like it for it's strength and "Scale Look" when it comes to Superstructures etc.
The only down side is paint tends to chip off easily.
Have you any special plans for paint?

That must be a little expensive.
What about getting larger amounts made up for you?
The exact colours you require but in larger quantities at a greatly reduced cost.
I would shudder to think how much my little boat would cost to paint using tinlets.
Do you have to etch the litho-plate?
I trust you are using etch primer on the brass. I had a lesson on how to apply that recently and to my surprise the rule of thumb seemed to be ............. if the primer coats it to cover it up .......... it is too thick. (Every day I learn something new.)
Bill too gave me a present ............. an untouched photo of Bismarck at speed. Have had it framed .............. and it is hung up in the house!

The thing is the CIC is always looking for presents this time of years for my birthday and christmas, so she is paying for the paints for my birthday plus a bottle of whisky, and she is paying for the 3 inch 50 gun,s all 4 of them for christmas, I still need 3 more single orlicons like the ones I bought at the IPMS show at Telford.

As for the painting I find the WEM paint goes straight on to any thing, I give every thing a good rub down with a scotch bright.

I know what you are saying. Telford supplied some of the guns I needed also.
It was my B/Day yesterday and I mentioned to the Admiral that I needed some more sheet brass in 10 thou.
I must admit I do like WEM. It is not only the paint but all the other stuff they have as well as sound advice.

Hi Guys, I have started on the forward base for the 3 inch 50.

I have marked off my plywood and cut it to shape.

I have turned it over and shaped the base in balsawood , it is tappered to take in the slope of the deck to the bow.

I have covered the base with my litho plate, also made a start on the braces,s for the blast and weather shield of the 5 inch 50 gun.

Viewed from the rear.

Bracing section glued in place.

Surround section glued in place, this is 3/16 angle plastic styreen.

The first part of the deck and shield , cut from litho plate.

Fitted in place, also the top section of angled plastic.

The top section of the shield was strengthened with a second layer of litho .
