In need of Trumpy's 1/350 Slava lower full hull.

Post by Roberto »

If anyone is going to build their Slava (Moskva) 350 scale as a waterline, I have a project that requires the use of the lower hull for a scratchbuild.
I'll pay shipping expenses of course.
Thanks in advance.

Hood is bigger than the Kirov in every dimension, and weigh 70% more than Kirov.

OK, how good is the Pit-road Kirov? I know they're the company that does the equipment sets, but I want to know how good it is... and if there's extra stuff included.

Chuck yes your right I just check the HOOD's a bit bigger ( measure twice cut once!!) still its going to be a big kit :woo_hoo: :woo_hoo:

The Pitroad Kirov's ( all 4 are aviable), they are IMHO very good, very reasonably price here in Aust I have just today got Dragons PYOTR VELIKIY 3in1 just been reissued it actually has the old Pitroad Russian weapon set, it looks very good in the box I think that we are totally spoilled for Kirov's in 1-700

Yes, I was looking at the Pitroad ones, and then opted for the 3-1 Pyotr Velikhy from Dragon instead, as it will include parts intended for some rebuilds... I'll build the Pyotr as the Frunze instead, leaving up the Kashtan modules, as well as the SS-N-22 launchers, for two conversions of other ships, a Udaloy II and a fictitious, though extrapolated, design I call the Kiev II. The end result should be quite interesting, to say the least.

Ok, theoretical thoughts going on... is there a length difference of any note between the Granit and the Moskit launchers? I've got another design idea clunking around in my head, and I'm entertaining the thoughts of a modified Slava Class... and it's going through my mind.

I've answered my own question regarding Moskit vs Bazalt/Sunburn vs Sandbox launchers. Next question. I've identified the targetting radar, I think, for the Moskit missiles, between the Udaloy and Udaloy II, the question arises - which radar is used for the guidance of the Bazalt/Sandbox missiles? I'm having trouble identifying it between the Kiev and Slava classes, and would like to know which radar module I'll be looking to replace. Also, I don't notice any visible radome on the Chabanenko for the Kashtan systems, yet there seems to be a radome replacing the forward Bass Tilt systems on the Kirovs. Resources seem to be impossible to find when it comes to Russian weapon system-linked radars, and which performs which task. I know Eye Bowl is what's used for the Silex missiles, since it's present on Udaloy but not Udaloy II, I know Bass Tilt is for the 630 intercept acquisition, since it's located near 630 positions. I would assume the foremost radome on the Chabanenko is associated with the Moskit system since there is a similar one on the Sovremenny class. I'm assuming on Kiev the two twin-dish radars are air tracking and control radars, since there's one on either side. I'm assuming there isn't a radar system for the heavier gun systems, or that it's simply linked through computer operation to the major track and threat warning systems for anti-ship/anti-air purposes.

Help Appreciated.

Sorry to see it only now.
The huge twin dish radars are for the SA-N-3 missiles, two twin launchers, one forward and one aft of the island. The smaller boxes with one big and one small dish are for the SA-N-4 launchers (pop twin arm launchers near the flight deck).

Sandbox is guided by the radar (curved rectangular one) on the front side of the Slava's forward/main mast. On Kiev class that radar is on top of the island (aft one, stands alone there).

Hey guys, I already posted in the Sovremenny and Udaloy thread, but I just thought I drop in here too. I'm building one ship of every class in the Russian Northern Fleet, i.e Admiral Kuznetsov, Kirov, Slava, Sovremenny, Udaloy and Krivak, possibly one of each class sub in the fleet too if I can find drawings.
I'm sourcing drawings and plans at the moment, Neptune has very kindly offered me copies of Sovremenny, Krivak and Udaloy plans, and I have bought a good Slava plan from ebay. I haven't managed to find any plans of a Kirov or the Kuznetsov. Ideally it would be good to have hull profiles too. Does anyone know where I could get hold of these? I'd be very grateful for any help you could give me :).

That is a great question. What kind of plans are out there and which ones would everyone consider to be good enough to build from?
