Thanks for the comments guys. Progress has been painfully slow recently due to real life getting in the way. I have, however, started on the brass tie down strips for the deck which are, as per Peter Van Buren's method, 0.03 brass wire glued on top of the moulded lines as shown in the photo. It's fiddly work but is going to give a better result than I could have hoped for with paint...

A little more progress has been made today (wish I could work as fast as Kym Knight) , with the railings and boats beginning to be added to the ship as well as supplies being loaded aboard. The water is also now a lot less blue than it was although it still needs it's layer of clear varnish over the top.

Looking great John. :thumbs_up_1:
Isn't it great putting these type of dio's together? Always a hundred and one things to add to the scene with new ideas continually popping up. I've been playing 'Sudden Strike 3' lately (in my spare time) and on the Iwo Jima mission, was zooming right in on the islands Japanese storage area checking out what the games artists had lying aroung. It gave me some more ideas, now where's that Evergreen and spare photo-etch?

You are so right - that's one reason why it's taking so long to get this one finished, starting to wish I'd made it twice the size to fit in all the stuff I want :heh:

Next one after this is going to the Hornet at the pier at Alameda with the Doolittle B25's being loaded (going to have to buy another Hornet interier PE set though  )

Any intentions to add mooring lines?

Yes, once the ship has been attached to the base and the water built up then I'll be adding lines and gangplanks.

Managed to take a day off work on Thursday so made quite a bit of progress on the Yukikaze. More PE has been added, the turrets and torpedo launchers are finished, decals have been applied and a wash has been applied to the whole model.

Here's a stem to stern look at how she looks today:

Still to do are railings on the starboard side, cable reels, linoleum deck tie downs need to be completed, rigging needs to be done and more crew need to be added so I'm looking forward to being able to get my hands on a set of the Tamiya crew figures.

Thanks guys  , not sure it's that good, the camera might not lie but it sure can hide a lot

Here's a cropped, grey scale version of the last pic, I'm really quite pleased at the way this one is turning out...
