PE parts query

Post by Joe Meredith »

Hi All,
I've had a Tamiya CVN-65 kit for a while now, and have not really been in any rush to build it, though I have been thinking about making a start on it lately; I only really have average skills and haven't built other ships but would like to do a proper job of the Enterprise rather than OOB, but having never worked with PE parts I just wondered how for example the railings are attached to the plastic. I'd probably want to build some sort of hangar deck as well, but it wouldn't be something I'd rush into!

:wave_1: Hi Joe, welcome to ship modeling!! I have just returned to building ships again after many years away....
I would recommend getting the 1/350 Tamiya Fletcher class Destroyer and a good photo-etch set and use that for practice.
But be careful, you might find yourself really liking this kit, the fletcher is very well thought out and a joy to build and paint.
plus it will give you practice bending and attaching PE..... it took me a little getting used to using superglue.
Good Luck!!
