I'm impressed with Hunchback - for a converted ferryboat, her service record during the war wasn't too shabby.
I've written to the Columbus museum but have yet to hear back; will follow up with them again to see if anyone can come up with details on Knoxville.
We've got several interesting discussions ongoing over at SubPirates that will lead to building the first ironclad of the war, CSS Manassas, as well as one of the early Confederate subs, CSS Pioneer. Will you be using those skins just on the turret? I went with flush bolt heads on the upper hull sides on my Weehawken and should have done the same on the deck, I believe. Just curious which school of thought you belong to.
Also, are you putting camber in the deck on the Manhattan? I've got plans sized to 1/200 for a Canonicus class myself, and I can't decide if it's worth putting in deck camber at that size or not; going with a flat deck would obviously make things MUCH easier.

No, the skins have plate for both raft & turrets. Actually, Steve has 2 turret skins on each sheet one for the Ericsson turret & the other he calls his "reject" that didn't pass muster since its slightly different but will make an ideal skin for the front Eads turret on Milwaukee. Deck plates will be made from plain styrene sheet for the monitors as well as Tennessee which I'll score to mimic the 2" rail armor.
I've attached some photos I took this morning as well put one of the original Monitor for reference. Dumas' pattern was off which is why Steve made these after much research & assistance from The Mariners Museum. They even allowed him access to Monitors relic turret to measure the pattern & cannon ball damage!
Regarding deck camber, I'm debating that now since I've not yet found Lucite thin enough to use & have a door skin already cut for the template. For sure on Chickasaw / Milwaukee Class when I get to that project. Will be putting up photos this week on RCG & SP threads.

You aren't the first to ask how to get these but they aren't sold commercially. I've sent Steve an email asking if he'd be interested in offering these when he running another batch along with the turret awning he's currently having tooled. I'll let you know.
Am working at a snail's pace, but have decided to finish both ironclads at the same time; am 95% done with Manhattan's hull & expect to have Tennessee's ready for paint this evening. I'll be sure to take some close ups of the raft & turret once I've got the skins applied & Manhattan painted this week.
My buddy from Germany arrives in another 12 days & asked that I have something new to play with on the water this time around, so the pressure's on.

The Manhattan hull looks great. What did you use to build the fillet between the upper hull and the lower raft? I'd assume triangular stock, but I think you'd get a lot of gaps with that.
What's that on the computer monitor wallpaper? A painting or a photo? I don't recognize it.

Thanks. I used Tamiya ABS 5mm triangle strips that I found at my LHS here in Hangzhou. At 30rmb, I got hosed but its much easier than trying to cut balsa squares at that size.

If anyone is interested in City Class gunboats, I just received 30+ photos of a USS Cincinnati model that I'd be happy to share. Unfortunately many are not as clear as the examples below, but they offer a lot of detail to anyone interested in modeling this rivertine ironclad & cover just about every angle of the subject.
