Stirring paint in a tinlet/small can: small tip.

For those moments when all the pigment has settled on the bottom and the solvent is floating complacently on top. Open lid, throw in a small coin, close lid, shake (while making sure the lid doesn't come off) and voila, everyting back to normal.

Would have to be a helluva small coin if you're using a Humbrol tin.

My favorite tool for that job, is a custom-built stirrer and a Dremel. The advantages are threefold: 1) no paint ends up on the bottom of the lid; 2) the opening remains relatively clean for airtight re-sealing; 3) the stirring paddles can be run right along the tin's bottom, getting the whole layer of sedimentary pigment worked-into the rest of the liquid more thoroughly and in less time.

It is a great tip!

I use now a lead bullet from my air-rifle for this purposes - it is 4,5 mm in diameter, about 5 grams in weight and small enough - about 5 mm in length.

I insert it into a small paint can and just shake for 2-3 minutes. I have checked the results with 2 cans - just great.

Yes, I use the 4 to 5 mm BBs for paints. I drop two or three of them in and shake till I hear the BBs hit the container walls on both ends of the can/bottle. I also like it because it tells me if I've opened the can/bottle for painting or if it's new and never been opened.
