Just like to put a few things straight about by book , I had researched my fathers ship for seven years , and Ive been intrested in world war two destroyers all my life , I had no intention of producing a book but someone asked me becouse the amount of information I had gathered was immense , My freind John Lambert who I have met numerous times as I construct numerous models including 1/350 scale White e nsign Destroyers up to a seven foot hull of a J class destroyer that I have yet to build , I have at least twenty WW2 Destroyers of diffrent scales and sizes and John Lambert produces excellent drawings . The Book was not intended to be of the same Quality as the Chris Langtrees Kellys , but after finding a copy of Q Class Destroyers of the Australian Navy I thought it was time some reference was made to the Q Class destroyers so my findings and John Lamberts Drawings were put together to produce at least something on the least covered Subject of emergency Destroyers. Ive managed to contact many old sailors from The Q Classes still alive and kicking along with my father who served on these ships , sailors from the Quality , Quadrant , and Quilliam , and I have met them and become great freinds , I attended the funeral last week of one of then George Craven , who served on the Quality , George was constructing a 1/96th scale model of the Quality to exact standards , as he was an engineer by trade , but a great person and very gallant , these people really Knew what warships were all about as they served on them , and actually fought in a war they did not need to profess their knowledge on forums like this as they actually lived it . The book is just one of my intrests , I have gathered much more information and Photos and a revised edition could be produced in the future , but it was not my intention to produce a book for world wide sales it was something for the sailors of the q classes . I had a lot of requests for books but Ive been so busy with my occupation , hobbys and Destroyer building that I havent had time to post them , this along with the ill health of my perants ! I have sent all surviving shipmates of the Q classes and their relatives if requested free copys and extra photos ect . Ive been asked to do a book similar on the L classes , the person who put the book together Rob Wiltons grandfather was on the Lafory when it was sunk and has lots of info but alas I havent the time . I have five books left and I dont think Im going to have any more re produced so I suppose in a way they will become quite rare like the sailors who sailed on them.
