I have a Fujimi Admiral Scheer and a Trumpy Stennis half way built, and my next Spanish Armada proyect is Juan Sebastian de Elcano, a 700th kitbash that, if comes along well, could be a nice departure from the grey ships, but I gess it will take me at least a month or two to start modelling again.
And as for surgical techniques in modelling, of course plastic (or resin) and alive tissues are quite different media, and need completely different approaches, but I have learned from surgery that almost everything is possible if you have (and know how to use) the proper tool, ant that applies to modelling indeed.
In modelling I use a wide range of discarded surgical tools, such as hooks, probes, tweezers, haemostats... and, of course, n� 11 blades which are way better than their hobby counterparts.
I used to use surgical 6-0 silk for rigging, but now I favour stretched sprue. The inner element of spinal needles fits nice for whip antennae, as well.
That said, I think modelling has helped me as a surgeon, improving my confidence and manual skills, so I gess our work and hobby mix quite well.
